Nobody planned to build The bot named him. That is usually how the best B.O.B.s begin. It was discovered inside a book that had never been borrowed, shortly after a librarian whispered “beep” and accidentally completed its startup code. These days, this optimistic in all weather machine is busy returning overdue fairy tales before the dragons notice. Its special talent is making perfect paper aeroplanes, although it would much rather spend the afternoon practises heroic poses in reflective kettles. Its greatest dream is to solve the mystery of the missing left sock; its only real worry is escalators going the wrong way. Best friend: Captain Crumb, a retired vacuum cleaner. Favourite saying: “Stand back—I have string.”
